White Ranch Park
The largest park in the Jeffco Parks & Open Space system: 20-plus miles of multi-use trails and two walk-in, tent-only campgrounds. East Trailhead on West 56th Avenue, West Trailhead on Belcher Hill Road.
White Ranch is the biggest park Jefferson County Parks & Open Space runs, with more than 20 miles of natural-surface, multi-use trails over gentle and rugged ground. The East Trailhead is at 21827 West 56th Avenue and the West Trailhead at 25373 Belcher Hill Road. A 0.9-mile stretch of the Longhorn Trail is bike-only and one-way, part of the county’s designated-use pilot.
It is one of two county open space parks with camping: Sawmill and Sourdough Springs campgrounds have semi-primitive, tent-only, walk-in sites by online permit, bought at least 24 hours ahead, $12 a site a night, for up to three nights in a row and six nights in any 30 days. Trails cross the property except for two Sensitive Areas; one of them, Ralston Buttes, can be visited only by permit.
Hours are from the JCPOS Regulations page (https://www.jeffco.us/1583/Regulations); the mud-closure note is from the JCPOS Alerts & Closures page.
