Clear Creek Canyon Park
Jeffco open space along US 6 in Clear Creek Canyon: climbing, fishing and paddling, and the paved Clear Creek Trail. Trailheads from the Gateway at 21100 US 6 up to Cannonball Flats.
Jefferson County Parks & Open Space runs this park of steep canyon walls and fast-flowing water, with access points strung along US Highway 6: Gateway (21100), Tunnel 1 (22122), CCR (23801), Big Easy (32088), Mayhem Gulch (32447) and Cannonball Flats (33708). The county warns that climbing, kayaking and rafting here are high-risk and to take care getting down to the creek. Anglers need a Colorado fishing license with a habitat stamp, and gold prospectors must follow open space rules, with prospecting barred in parts of the Big Easy area.
The paved Clear Creek Trail (formerly Peaks to Plains) runs through the park and has opened the canyon to bicycles. The CCR Trailhead segment, opened in November 2025, added 1.5 more miles of ADA-accessible trail and five bridges; construction continues further west on the Huntsman Segment.
