Lookout Mountain Nature Center and Preserve

Jeffco's nature center on Lookout Mountain, with exhibits on foothills plants and animals, a kids' play room and free naturalist programs, set in a 110-acre hiker-only preserve.

Jefferson County Parks & Open Space owns and runs the Lookout Mountain Nature Center, where staff and volunteer naturalists lead free programs for families, schools and groups. Inside are interactive exhibits on the plants and animals of the foothills, a hands-on play room and an observation room.

The center sits on the 110-acre Lookout Mountain Preserve, whose hiker-only nature trails are open daily from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. The Nature Center itself is open Friday through Monday, 10 am to 4 pm. The challenging, hiker-only Beaver Brook Trail links the area with Windy Saddle Park, Clear Creek Canyon Park and Denver’s Genesee Mountain Park.
