Lookout Mountain Park
City and County of Denver park on Lookout Mountain, open year-round: Buffalo Bill's grave, a free observation deck with views of the Front Range and plains, picnic tables and a trail to the Lookout Mountain Nature Center.
Lookout Mountain Park surrounds the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave, which the museum’s Hours and Admission page says is part of the City and County of Denver’s Department of Parks and Recreation. The park is open all year from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. William F. “Buffalo Bill” Cody and Louisa Cody are buried about 200 yards from the Buffalo Bill Museum along a paved path with a 20-foot climb, and the museum’s observation deck, free and open park hours, looks over the Front Range and the Great Plains.
Picnic tables on the deck and in front of the historic Pahaska Tepee are first come, first served; the park’s picnic shelter by the museum gate can be reserved May 1 to September 3 through Denver Parks and Recreation. A one-mile trail from the museum lot leads to the Lookout Mountain Preserve and Nature Center and on to the Windy Saddle and Beaver Brook trails. The park is on the Lariat Loop National Scenic Byway.
