The Buffalo Rose sits at the corner of Washington Avenue and 12th Street, directly beneath the “Howdy Folks – Welcome to Golden” arch. The kitchen serves regional American food with a Latin influence. Happy hour is Monday to Thursday, 2 to 5 pm, and brunch is Saturday and Sunday, 9 am to 2 pm. The Sky Bar sits under a retractable glass roof, and the event center hosts concerts, weddings and private events.
The Rose is a group of historic buildings, renovated and reopened in 2019. Its own history traces the saloon to the International Bowling Saloon of 1859, which is why it calls itself the oldest bar in Colorado. The event center was built in the 1920s as an auto garage and became the Golden Plunge, an indoor pool, in 1928.
